The European Creative Economy Conference 2024 was held on 13 June, in Helsinborg, Sweden. At the event, Basque Government introduced the regional governance model for CCIs, and KSIgune presented the first Regional Skills Partnership for CCIs recognised by the European Commission.
ECEC 2024 gathered Administrations, Academia and Businesses to exchange on the role of Local Ecosystem Partnerships (LEPs) for creative placemaking, through a programme packed with inspirational talks and project presentations. Basque Country participated at the event with a delegation formed by the CCI Service of Basque Government, KSIgune, BDCC, as well as the entity DANTZ and the reseach centre Basque Biodesign Center.
During the event, Basque Government introduced the regional governance model for CCIs from a multi-stakeholder collaboration perspective. Likewise, KSIgune presented the first Regional Skills Partnership (RSP) for CCIs recognised by the European Commission. Key elements of this partnership include the ecosystem approach to connect Administration, Higher Education, and Businesses; the methodology to enhance training capacity; and the strategic action to foster the knowledge transfer between Higher Education and CCIs in the region.
This RSP will serve as a reference ecosystem for the city of Helsinborg and the Region of Skåne to develop their own skills partnership in the near future.
Other good practices of local ecosystem partnerships which were presented were: Game Habitat, BoostHBG, Danish Creative Industries, wonderland platform for european architecture, and Yrkesnämnden för Film och TV, among others.
ECEC 2024 widely promoted collaboration at European level and reinforced key ideas, such as:
- Leveraging Local Ecosystem Partnerships (LEPs) is key to bridge the entrepreneurship, skills and collaboration gaps within the CCIs
- There is an increasing need for data measurement and supportive environments for culture and creativity to flourish.
- A thriving cultural and creative sector can further contribute to societal sustainability.
