Description
Bita: Each of the wooden or iron posts which are secured to the deck in the vicinity of the bow and are used to turn the anchor cables when the ship is anchored.
BIT: the smallest unit of measurement in digital audio. Each bit is equal to 6 dB (decibels). With this play on words, I want to create a contemporary sound and visual piece that reflects all the river activity in Bilbao, more specifically in the Zorrozaurre area.
The BIT/A project is a Master's Thesis aimed at responding to the technology-digital transition, to the use of new technologies in the arts –sound art and digital art in this specific case– so as to connect the past with the present, and not forget the maritime economy of Bilbao and its estuary. We can use this new perspective to explore the social, cultural and economic aspects of contemporary creation through ongoing research.
